CodeAbility Austria

Digital supported programming education at Austrian universities

The access to a high-quality programming education for students of all fields of study forms the foundation for many further developments in teaching and research at Austrian universities. The goal of CodeAbility Austria is to bundle competencies and create a platform that does justice to the high dynamics of learning goals and technologies and provides individual support to both teachers and students. CodeAbility rests on three pillars:

  1. the development of didactic concepts that combine presence and online elements with the goal of achieving a deep understanding of programming and supporting practice independent of time and location,
  2. the use of Programming Learning Analytics to enable individual learning paths and
  3. the networking, training and continuing education of teachers in programming education to ensure a high didactic level across the board and to initiate an innovation process in programming education.

Impact

CodeAbility Austria enables a rapidly growing number of students with heterogeneous prior knowledge to receive a high-quality programming education. This creates a foundation for many further developments in teaching and research at Austrian universities. In the second project phase, interfaces to programming education in upper schools (upper secondary level II) and to further education programs for the economy will be developed.
